Van Angelo Paz
I am a third year studying a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology.
I chose LIT because it was close to home, which was convenient but also because it is the only institute that offers a course in Medical Technology. My first time visiting LIT during the Open Days had a huge impact on me. I was really impressed with the place and loved the lively and active atmosphere. I also liked how easy it was to locate every lecture room.
I chose Medical Technology because I had a keen interest in both science and technology. This course has a mixture of both which made my choice for the CAO easy. I was always curious about how technology is used in medicine and knew that it has the potential to become more important.
I find that in LIT classes are small which means that lecturers can go around to each student and make sure they understand everything. I also find the lecturers here very approachable and they know each student by their first names. The majority of the work I do takes place in practical labs which can be very hands-on making it easier for me to understand the subject.
I would advise students who are considering LIT for their CAO to not hesitate. LIT is a great educational environment for students and has all the facilities you will need. LIT provides great support and will help you gain independence and responsibility which are vital skills to help you along your future career path. Most importantly however LIT focuses on the practical element of study which will help you acquire the skills and experience employers seek.
