Marcus Horan – Head Coach of Shannon RFC
Sport has been a huge part of my life from a very young age, from the days of hurling with Clonlara to forging a 14 year professional career in Rugby with both Munster and Ireland. After my retirement from the game, I wanted to further my career in the sports industry and the MSc in Strength and Conditioning seemed ideal. As the head coach of Shannon RFC I see the importance of gathering knowledge and expertise in all aspects of coaching. Also, I see sport as a growing business in this country and indeed globally.
The theoretical and practical content of the Sports Strength & Conditioning Masters at LIT was exceptional, I would thoroughly recommend this programme. It is not just a course aimed at strength and conditioning it also incorporates business and technology. This combination of both sports and business skills equips you to participate in the highly competitive and increasingly commercial world of sport. I found the lecturers to be extremely helpful and forthcoming with ideas and eager to share their practical experiences in the field, which lead to an enjoyable and productive learning experience.
For me, it started in LIT
Former Munster & Ireland Rugby Player, 225 appearances for Munster and also boasts 67 Irish Caps.
